404-250-0790 - Atlanta Legal Staffing Firm - Use An Agency To Effectively Increase And Augment Legal Staffing

April 10th, 2012 Gus Cawley CPA Posted in Forex Q & A No Comments »

There are some emerging signs of an improving economy, even though progress has been slow and incremental. As activity gains momentum, many companies will need to fill a small but growing number of job openings, including positions in law firms. Finding and hiring qualified employees ready to handle this specialized work can be a long and expensive process without the help of a professional legal staffing agency.

A shortage of highly trained, efficient workers in this arena is not unusual. Law firms normally do not have retraining programs for new workers, simply because they operate within a profession requiring specific training courses and unique college degrees. Finding the best new employee often requires a lengthy process that includes advertising the position, interviewing applicants, and making background checks.

To make this search manageable and less expensive, outsourcing makes excellent business sense. In this case outsourcing does not mean sending a job search overseas, but does involve contracting with a reputable local employment service for legal workers. This practice saves harried in-house personnel departments from being overwhelmed, and provides a database of qualified people who are ready to work right away.

A staffing agency benefits both workers and employers. A thoroughly vetted employee pool usually includes not only newcomers, but also established, successful career people who often have been specially referred, including many who want to advance their career with a different firm. This group includes attorneys and paralegals, as well as those who provide office services, such as legal secretaries and administrators.

The services provided do not end with a list of potential employees. Agencies are expert at handling all aspects of law office employment, especially in situations where capable, experienced help is needed in a hurry. If a heavy case load is causing the office to fall behind, using temporary workers to fill in the gaps can prevent processing delays, helping to create and preserve a good company reputation and image.

Besides providing quality employees when work is heaviest, most agencies present a wide choice of skilled temporary employees trained to fill the gaps created when a regular staff member is on an extended vacation, seriously ill, or wrapped up in a special project that supersedes normal duties. They can be hired for periods as short as a single day, especially when an specific employee absence seriously impacts overall work flow.

Employers and employees alike benefit from this arrangement. Many managers know that observing a new but temporary worker in real time is an excellent way to evaluate talent and abilities, often with the added benefit of being hired full-time. Employees spending time doing real work in a new setting are able to better evaluate whether the job is the right fit for a permanent choice.

Other staffing solutions include related payroll services designed specifically to retain employees until they can actually be hired, including checks, insurance, and taxes. When it is time to increase legal staffing on a full or part time basis, working with an established and respected personnel service streamlines the entire process, and molds it to fit your own specialized hiring needs.

You can find a detailed summary of the reasons why you should use the services of an Atlanta legal staffing agency and more information about a reliable Atlanta temporary legal stafffing firm, today.

Is Insurance A Necessity On The Road?

November 8th, 2011 Peggy Walter Posted in Forex Q & A No Comments »

Who likes to pay insurance? You'd have to be mad to enjoy forking out so much cash every month just so the huge companies can build bigger towers downtown. I don't have a tower downtown. Why do they get one? Some reports claim that the auto insurance industry makes over 3 trillion dollars in profits annually. If my car is stolen, will they pay? If I get in an accident, will they pay? Do I understand the fine print in the policy? People complain about insurance companies and having to pay for insurance all the time. They get to be the bad guys, but are they all that bad? Should I refuse to pay for insurance?

First of all, it's the law in most places now. You have to have insurance. If you don't, you can't register your car. In some places, if an officer finds out you don't have insurance; your car will be taken from you on the spot. That's no fun. So, even though you can drive around all day and get gas and get repairs, you still need insurance according to the law. It isn't an immediate need, and it's never needed by many people, but it is required. Consider the reasoning. You don't always have to look both ways when you cross the road. You don't always have to double check, but the one time you don't, it can be disastrous. This is why the government steps in and enforces it.

What's the big deal? Doctors for one. They're expensive. When you break bones and get banged up, the pain is astounding. But, that will usually go away after weeks or months if you're lucky. Doctor bills get big: sometimes 50 thousand and sometimes more. If you get out with a bill of 10 thousand dollars, you're lucky. Who's going to pay for that? Do you have 10 or 50 thousand extra dollars laying around to pay for your injuries? What about your passengers? What about the other car? Emergency rooms are incredibly expensive and several hundred dollars per day is not high if you are hooked up to any machines. Hopefully, we won't have to know about this, but the insurance company can be our friend in these times. In fact, in times like this, we often wish we had paid them more, so we can get more help when we need it.

What if everyone is ok? No injuries, but the car looks terrible. Maybe the car is totaled: it needs to be replaced. Maybe it was your fault, maybe it wasn't. Fixing a bent frame, replacing doors and panels gets costly. Re-doing all the paint (so you don't look like a sitcom character driving around) gets very expensive. Sometimes the car will never look the same unless you spend the big bucks. Again, who's your buddy? The insurance company is.

We don't like to pay. We complain and we make them the bad guy too often. But, the insurance company can save your life when you need money for the hospital bills. They can replace your car with a shiny new one when you wreck it. Is insurance a necessity on the road? Yes, it certainly is.

Recent Hurricanes Offer A Good Reminder About The Value Of Travel Insurance

September 24th, 2011 Petrusia Kowal Posted in Forex Q & A No Comments »

The recent pummeling delivered along the Atlantic coast courtesy of Hurricane Irene offers a reminder that people traveling abroad should do so with travel insurance coverage. Many Canadians were visiting the U.S. when Irene struck, and discovered their flights home had been cancelled. Travel insurance can help recoup any costs incurred as a result of delays and trip interruptions.

The recent tropical storms - from Arlene and Cindy to Emily, Franklin, and Harvey - should not come as a surprise. They fall within the official hurricane season. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NAOO), that season begins June 1 and extends through the end of November of each year. Canadians planning to travel through the Atlantic hurricane zone should take steps in advance to minimize their exposure to delays and unexpected costs.

When A Hurricane Destroys Your Accommodations

Depending on where you plan to travel, your accommodations may sustain substantial damage due to a hurricane or strong tropical storm. For example, suppose you had intended to vacation in Puerto Rico during the summer of 2011. At the time, the area had been hit by Tropical Storm Emily, a tropical cyclone that battered a large portion of the Caribbean. In Puerto Rico, nearly 19,000 people were left without electricity, and several thousands had to survive without drinking water. Many were forced to evacuate their homes.

Without travel insurance coverage, you might have been forced to pay for alternative accommodations if your hotel or bungalow had been damaged. You may also have had to incur costs associated with delayed flights, missed connections, and other interruptions.

When you purchase a travel insurance policy, you can tailor it to suit your circumstances. Some insurers offer coverage for lodgings that are made uninhabitable by inclement weather and natural disasters. Other companies will cover trip interruptions stemming from certain weather-related conditions. Still others will allow you to cancel your trip for any reason, including hurricane warnings issued for the region to which you are traveling.

Traveling abroad, whether you do so during the official hurricane season or any other part of the year, is risky without travel insurance. But it is important to know what is covered in your policy before you leave home.

Do You Know What Coverage Is Included In Your Policy?

Every travel insurance policy is different. Not only do insurers offer different types of coverages, but as mentioned earlier, you can customize your policy to fit your needs. The problem is, many consumers neglect to take a few minutes to familiarize themselves with the details.

Most basic policies will cover costs related to trip cancellation. But there is usually a defined set of circumstances for which coverage applies. Unless you add a "cancel for any reason" (CFAR) clause, coverage is limited to certain events (e.g. job loss, jury duty, etc.).

Coverage is also available in most standard policies for trip delays and interruptions (again, for specific circumstances), lost or stolen luggage, and medical care for injuries and illnesses. Optional endorsements can be purchased for emergency evacuations, transportation-related accidents, stolen passports, and countless other events.

Review your policy before leaving your home. Know what is covered and what is not covered. That way, you can avoid unpleasant surprises if something happens while you are traveling abroad.

Tips For Traveling Abroad During The Hurricane Season

First, pay particular attention to the way your insurance policy defines coverage for inclement weather. As already noted, standard policies typically limit coverage events.

Second, realize that you need to purchase coverage for a hurricane before it is officially named. Many insurers require you to do so while the hurricane is still classified as a tropical storm.

Third, prior to boarding your flight, check the weather conditions in the region to which you're traveling (you can do so at the NOAA website). That way, you can cancel your trip if you think the weather is likely to pose a problem.

Fourth, shop around for travel insurance coverage. Rates vary from insurer to insurer, even for the same package of coverages. Determine the types of insurance you and your family need, and then compare rates between several companies.

The most important thing to remember is that traveling outside Canada without travel insurance is usually unwise, even for quick trips. When unexpected events occur, they tend to do so at the worst possible times. Fortunately, most policies are priced low enough to make coverage affordable for all travelers.
